Climate/Precipitation: The grassland biome climate is in a mid-latitude zone. The climate experiences a dry season, where insufficient water exists to support forests. This region recieves between 25 and 75cm of precipiation annualy. There are drying winds and extreme temperatures.
Animals: During certain times of the year, grasslands are populated by herds of grazing animals. These animals include bison, jack rabbits, deer, elk, and praire dogs. There are also foxes, ferrets, many species of insects, birds, and reptiles.
Plants: Most plants found here are drought-resistant and late-summer flowing species. The two major plants found here are grasses and shrubs. Grasslands contain a few trees and most are found near streams and other water sources. They are ideal for growing cereal grains such as oats, rye, and wheat. Other plants that live in this environment include blazing stars, sunflowers, and coneflowers.
